Fundraising in Times of Economic Crisis: How to Survive and Thrive

How can fundraisers react proactively to the simultaneous challenges of projected declines in giving--and rising needs in the nonprofit sector? Is this a good time for special events? What about plans for capital campaigns? Where can fundraisers economize and still maintain effective outreach?

To address these and other critical issues, the NYU Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising hosted a series of special seminars with fundraising experts and directors of nonprofit agencies.  They discussed their day-to-day responses to the current economic scene and strategies for the future.

Presenters included Naomi Levine, executive director of the Heyman Center; Rosemary Scanlon, noted economist and professor at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate; Marian Stern, Heyman Center adjunct faculty; Jane Carlin, vice president of mission advancement, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Richard Brown, national director of leadership giving, Autism Speaks; and Laura Fredericks, author of The Ask and Heyman Center adjunct faculty.
