CERTIFICATE IN FUNDRAISING

The Certificate in Fundraising is designed for those in fundraising, marketing, finance, nonprofit management, and other fields who are looking to gain a greater understanding of the fundraising profession and complement their classwork through their employment.Upon completion of the certicate, students have:

  • A practical knowledge of all aspects of fundraising.
  • The ability to create a development plan for a nonprofit organization.
  • An understanding of ethical and legal issues for fundraisers and board members.
  • Knowledge of many New York and federal laws governing nonprofit organizations.This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete seven courses--two required, three core, and two electives. A B-plus or average is required to be elegible for the certificate.Substitutions may be made with permission of the program director. Advisement is available to help you make the optimal choice of courses for your career goals.

    This certificate has been restructured. Students who began this certificate prior to spring 2008 have four years to complete their certificate according to the requirements in the SCPS bulletin the semester they began. For more information, call an education advisor at (212) 998-7171.
