A COMMUNITY OF SCHOLARS AND PROFESSIONALS
As part of a lively community of student scholars, you will find that networking begins with first-day introductions in the classroom. The students with whom you share classes and group projects also share your drive to improve, to take on more responsibility, and to lead. You join a student body that is diverse, both professionally and culturally. Some of these men and women will already be working in public relations; some are setting forth on a new professional path. With the largest international student population of any university in the country—and a faculty that represents a similar diversity in background and scholarship—NYU’s classrooms come alive with a cultural, professional, and intellectual discourse that has an innate global context.
PR STUDENT LEAGUE
The PR League is the student-run organization that serves all M.S. in Public Relations and Corporate Communication students. By working with faculty, administration, and industry leaders, the club seeks to enhance the master's program on an academic, social, and professional level.
NETWORKING AND PROFESSIONAL EVENTS
Networking opportunities are an important part of the graduate program, and we maintain strong industry connections that serve your career goals well. Individual consultations with advisors, discussions about job opportunities and trends, and access to alumni in strategic positions are integral to the program. A variety of annual alumni events, centered on key topics and presented by industry executives, provide opportunities for you to meet graduates, develop insight into other aspects of the industry, and cultivate a positive network of colleagues in different sectors of public relations and Corporate Communication.
PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY OF AMERICA (PRSA)
PRSA is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. Its nearly 20,000 members, organized into 114 chapters, represent business and industry, technology, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms, and nonprofit organizations. The student chapter focuses on how to cultivate mutually advantageous relationships between students and professional PR practitioners. It further aims to foster your understanding of modern theories and procedures, instill in you a professional attitude, and encourage you to adhere to the highest ideals of the practice of public relations. By joining the PRSA, you demonstrate interest in the profession and gain access to further transitional experiences, from classroom into the field, as well as membership rebates.
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATORS (IABC)
A leading resource for effective communications practice, IABC provides a professional network of more than 13,000 business communication professionals in over 60 countries. As a member of the student chapter, you receive discounted membership fees and gain access to products, services, activities, and networking opportunities. People around the world—in industry and in the public and nonprofit sectors—take advantage of IABC’s resources to advance their careers and meet organizational objectives.

NYU UNIVERSITY-WIDE STUDENT CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
In addition to the broad range of industry professionals and guest speakers you meet in the classroom, you are able to choose any of NYU’s 350 clubs and associations as your primary venues for student involvement, career networking, and meeting classmates with similar goals, interests, and hobbies. Even as a part-time graduate student, you are encouraged to participate in student governance, graduate student organizations, and special-interest clubs. As an active graduate student, you are invited to an extraordinary array of events and opportunities to expand yourself both intellectually and professionally. You may participate in school-wide or program-specific forums, seminars, and conferences offered by the School, as well as by other NYU schools and colleges and their affiliated professional associations. These types of activities add greatly to your student experience and enhance your networking opportunities.
