CERTIFICATE IN INVESTOR RELATIONS

As members of the most specialized branch of public relations and corporate communications, investor relations professionals command the highest salaries for their very specific abilities. It is a multidisciplinary role, drawing upon skills in communications, finance, marketing, and law, and professionals enter this field from each of those disciplines. This certificate, designed in collaboration with the New York Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRINY)--the premier industry association in the field--targets corporate IR officers and consultants who normally interact with the highest level of company management, including CEOs, CFOs, and boards of directors. Whether you're an entry-level professional, switching careers, or ready to move into a management position, this program enables you to fully understand:

  • How to develop a proactive investor relations program best suited to a public company.
  • How the financial community makes investment decisions.
  • How public companies interact with the financial community and develop various forms of written and financial communication.
  • Mandatory and optional disclosures of financial information and the quantitative and qualitative aspects that influence market behavior and stock trading.
  • The investment process and how to apply it to your role as an investor relations professional for a public company.
  • Corporate disclosure policy and decision making from exposure to industry professionals, including top IROs.

This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete five courses--two required, two core, and one elective from either the communications or finance list.
