Graduates of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate leave with an industry-specific education that prepares them for the top echelon of their profession. Our real estate alumni assume leadership positions throughout the world. Graduates work in all aspects of the industry, including full-service brokerage and advisory firms, Wall Street investment houses, owner/development companies, property and asset management companies, corporate real estate divisions, real estate capital groups, and entrepreneurial ventures. Alumni of our construction management program find advanced positions with developers, national and global construction firms, government agencies, corporations, institutions, consulting firms, and many others. Graduates acquire the skills necessary to successfully run a construction business—from the largest global firm to the smallest independent company.
Naomi Zeliger is the associate director of career management at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate and provides valuable resources for both students and alumni of the program. Naomi hosts workshops and one-on-one meetings for students and graduates to discuss various career-related topics including resume and cover letter critiques, job search strategies, interviewing skills, and career planning.
Naomi is the primary point of contact for employers interested in hiring NYU Schack students and alumni. Company representatives work with Naomi to schedule on-campus presentations and interviews and to list positions on our NYU Schack job board.
Students, alumni, and employers can contact Naomi directly at naomi.zeliger@nyu.edu or 212-992-3291 for more information or to set up an appointment.
Prior to working at NYU-SCPS, Naomi was the Manager of University Relations at Cushman and Wakefield. She also worked as an assistant vice president for Citigroup in Campus Recruiting and Program Management. She obtained her M.S. Degree at NYU-SCPS in Human Resource Management and Development in December 2010.
Throughout their study at Schack, students are presented with opportunities to explore the job market by networking with fellow students, faculty, and industry contacts. Annual events, such as Career Information Night and Career Fair, bring students together with potential employers. Career Information Night is a special evening created for students to gather with peers and renowned industry experts in a relaxed, yet elegant, forum. Each year features a keynote speaker and panels of alumni from various areas of specialization to advise students and tackle questions about their particular expertise. Career Information Night also offers strategic information about sensitive issues that are not easily addressed during formal job interviews—from realistic salary expectations to the number of hours that truly compose a work week. Often, guest speakers bring news of career opportunities and invite job seekers to apply. The annual Career Fair provides students with a unique opportunity to meet with representatives from key real estate firms and construction management companies for an open exchange of information.
The NYU Schack Job Board can be accessed by visiting NYU Schack Job Board. The job board is exclusively for Schack students and alumni. To register, students are asked to use their NYU e-mail address and include their student ID. Alumni should include their graduation year. Please allow 24-48 hours for account approval. Real Estate and Construction Management employers use the job board year round to hire graduates and currently enrolled NYU Schack students.
Networking opportunities are an important part of the graduate program, and we maintain strong industry connections that serve students' career goals well. A variety of events—including a lecture series, roundtable discussions, and social events—centered on key topics and presented by industry executives, provide opportunities for students to meet alumni, develop insight into other aspects of the industry, and cultivate a positive network of colleagues. In addition, students are invited to attend the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate-sponsored national conferences each year--two of which are traditionally held at the Waldorf =Astoria or the Pierre Hotel. These are major conferences for the industry and feature distinguished real estate and construction management leaders from the nation’s top firms as they examine current trends, share insights and strategies, and strengthen industry ties.
One of our most popular social events is the annual Monopoly Night. Students and alumni mix with senior members of the real estate industry in an informal, high-energy setting for games of Monopoly®, dining, and dancing. The New York real estate and construction communities turn out in full force for this very special evening that provides an ideal framework for networking, community-building, and socializing.
