M.S. in Real Estate Development

ADMISSIONS

We seek to admit students who demonstrate exceptional promise--those with strong leadership potential, commitment to excellence, and passion for the industry, who have distinguished themselves in their academic and professional endeavors. No single area--college performance, essay, work experience, recommendations, or test scores--is the ultimate deciding factor. Rather, each admission decision is based on a holistic, collective review of all components of the application.

We look for applicants with strong communication skills who have the courage to ask questions, contribute to class discussions, and challenge one another.  We value the diversity of backgrounds from which our students come and from which they can draw unique perspectives to challenge assumptions and push the envelope of learning and innovation.

By reading the personal statement and letters of recommendation, we hope to gain a sense of applicants’ personal characteristics that suggest the principles and level of integrity with which they approach their work and their relationships with others. We look for clearly articulated goals that align with the mission of our program, and we consider each applicant’s professional background for evidence of professional growth and the potential for continued success after completion of the program.  Professional experience is evaluated not only in terms of years, but also with regard to the depth and breadth of experience, responsibilities, and progression.  Although the majority of students come from real estate backgrounds and have extensive exposure to the industry or relevant industries, a number of successful applicants are recent graduates and career changers with limited exposure to the field.
