CERTIFICATE IN BUILDING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DESIGN
Learn the practice and theory of electrical systems and apply that knowledge to designing electrical infrastructures for commercial buildings.
Upon completion of the program, students have attained extensive knowledge of:
Electrical principles and their application to electrical equipment. Circuits and systems used in commercial and high-rise residential buildings. Grounding and power factors. Lighting, voltage drop, and service load calculations. Electrical code interpretation. Variance procedures.
This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete five required courses. Electrical Codes for Electrical Systems Design/X63.9476 is required and should be taken after Electrical Systems Design I/X63.9507 or the equivalent. Students may enter the design program at their appropriate level, but it is strongly recommended that all begin with Electrical Systems Design I/X63.9507.
