Ginger Smith Dr. Ginger Smith is Clinical Professor and Academic Chair of the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management, New York University. Prior to this, she served as Associate Dean, College of Professional Studies, and Associate Professor of Tourism Studies, School of Business, The George Washington University, Washington, DC. She also has served as senior official in the U.S. Department of Commerce and as founding Dean of the School of International Tourism and Hotel Management, Ana G. Mendez University System, Puerto Rico.

Dr. Smith is an active researcher, publishing in peer-reviewed texts and scholarly journals in areas including environmentally sustainable destination policy, planning and management, tourism information communication technologies, traveler safety and security, and socio-cultural and heritage tourism. She is co author of Tourism Policy and Planning: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow (with David Edgell, Sr., Maria Allen, and Jason Swanson, Elsevier, 2007). She lectures internationally and publishes in the areas of international relations trends and issues related to international tourism.

Dr. Smith received a B.A. in English from Cornell University, an M.A. in Public Relations and Communication from the University of Delaware, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the School of International Service, American University, Washington, D.C.
