PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Students at the Tisch Center easily integrate curricula and careers thanks to our location in
the heart of New York City – A tourism capital of the world and home to many major sports
organizations.
Career development at the Tisch Center begins with a practical industry overview and skills
assessment for new graduate students. Internships are a required and essential element across
degree programs, affording students an opportunity to build professional portfolios of experience, networking
skills, and critical thinking. Graduate students complete a 300-hour internship of learning,
shadowing, working, and developing professionally. The Tisch Center allows flexibility in
scheduling internships, which occur in the fall, spring, and summer. Some students elect to intern
while enrolled full-time, mirroring the multi-tasking required both in business and in life.
Students engage with faculty in concurrent internship coursework that compliments and informs their
practical field experience.
Dedicated Tisch Center faculty advisors and career administrators, in tandem with NYU
resources such as the
Wasserman Center for Career Development, the
SCPS Office of Career
Management, and esteemed industry guest lecturers, provide accessible and abundant
opportunities for meaningful learning, networking, and career growth. The Tisch Center Alumni
Society also offers mentorship opportunities, connecting our current successes in industry with the
bright leaders of tomorrow. A growing global roster of hospitality, tourism, and sports management
organizations also participate in on-campus recruitment days.
