“My experience at Tisch has allowed me to take advantage of networking opportunities
unavailable anywhere else in the sports industry.”
At Tisch, I have had the experience of a lifetime preparing for a professional career in sports
business management. After earning a law degree from the University of South Carolina, I chose NYU
to continue my graduate studies because of its outstanding academic reputation and central location
in New York City. My experience at Tisch has allowed me to take advantage of networking
opportunities unavailable anywhere else in the sports industry.
Tisch faculty members are active in the professional sports community. For example, Michael
Cramer, former president-chief operating officer for Southwest Sports Group, LLC, the holding
company for the Texas Rangers (MLB) and Dallas Stars (NHL), is now a full-time faculty member.
Furthermore, welcoming a sports executive such as Peter Woodfork, assistant general manager for the
Arizona Diamondbacks, as a guest speaker proved how well connected the professors at NYU are to the
world of sports.
Evening classes in midtown Manhattan made it convenient for me to earn a master’s degree while
gaining further real-world, hands-on sports business experience as a legal intern with the National
Lacrosse League (NLL) and basketball operations intern with the New York Knicks (NBA). My
colleagues, who came from all corners of the world, were just as driven and passionate as I am
about preparing for a career in the sports industry. NYU really offered it all: a thorough
education designed to prepare each student for the workforce in his or her area of interest.
