"When a former classmate relocated to the West Coast she...personally recommended me for the position I hold now"

When I had to pick a graduate program, NYU was a natural choice. It has a great tourism program in the best tourism city in the world and instructors who are industry professionals, at the top of their fields. The program really changed my perspective. Before graduate school I always thought of the tourism industry in terms of lower level jobs. Now I see it is made up of interlocking pieces and I look forward to a higher-level ‘big picture’ career.
I had a wonderful time at school. My classmates were from all over the world and I made lasting friendships that have also helped me professionally. When a former classmate relocated to the West Coast she called me to solicit my application and personally recommended me for the position in the non-profit I hold now. Throughout the program, I had contact with tourism industry leaders through department-sponsored events and Advisory Board and felt that my instructors really cared. They brought amazing industry leaders into the classroom and were always very accessible. Our relationship continued beyond final exams, to this day. I know it’s a cliché to say that NYU has broadened my horizons, but it’s true.
