Adjunct instructor Kevin Schiesz coordinates the Accelerated Certificate in Hotel Operations within the Tisch Center’s continuing education program. In addition to classroom instruction by industry experts, on-site sessions are held at leading New York City hotels, such as The Waldorf=Astoria, the Mandarin Oriental, and The Ritz-Carlton.
Each semester, Schiesz assigns a team research project for students to develop innovative solutions for the New York hotel industry. Recent projects have included hotel development proposals for New York’s trendy Meatpacking District, a comprehensive analysis of frontline staffing levels across various hotel segments, and design strategies for hotel guest room interiors and public spaces. Students then present their research to business leaders in a professional forum.
Schiesz is enrolled currently in a doctoral program, and writing a book on modern hospitality and service.
