TISCH CENTER COMMUNITY
Tisch Center student clubs, such as the Hospitality Business Society (HBS) and the Sports Business Society, are driving forces in sponsoring on-campus events. Students regularly plan internship fairs, guest lectures, and community service projects. In addition to these clubs, NYU’s Office of Student Activities manages almost 400 clubs that bring together students across the university who share similar interests.
HOSPITALITY BUSINESS SOCIETY (HBS)
The Hospitality Business Society (HBS) creates programs that expand students’ professional experiences. The annual Shadow Day, for example, matches industry professionals from the New York area with students who express interest in their respective fields of expertise. In addition, club members are involved in many community service activities, from distributing leftover food donated by local businesses through Feed the Homeless to conducting clothing drives for victims of natural disasters. Students are also active members of the local chapter of the Hospitality and Sales Marketing Association.
SPORTS BUSINESS SOCIETY
The Sports Business Society hosts an annual sports management career and internship fair that invites representatives from ESPN, Madison Square Garden, MLB, NASCAR, NHL, NFL, NBA, and the New York City Sports Commission, among many other prominent organizations, to speak with students about open positions at their companies. Throughout the year, the society plans a sports forum that features panel discussions led by industry professionals and runs a mentorship program that pairs seniors with freshmen to aid in their transition to college. Recently, the society received the President’s Service Award for its work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the United Spinal Association.
