STUDY ABROAD
As a Tisch Center student, studying abroad allows you an opportunity to experience the
excitement of living and learning in another country and provides the international perspective you
need in order to successfully compete in our global society. Each of NYU’s academic centers abroad—
in Berlin, Germany; Florence, Italy; Accra, Ghana; London, England; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France;
Prague, Czech Republic; or Shanghai, China—provides an array of courses in a variety of
disciplines. You can choose to study abroad for a summer, a semester, or an entire academic year.
NYU in Berlin, affiliated with Germany’s prestigious Humboldt University, encourages
students to learn about the sociology, history, and politics of modern Europe. At La Pietra, NYU’s
magnificent 57-acre estate in Florence, students study the history of Europe and its extraordinary
cultural legacy of art, literature, philosophy, and architecture. Students at NYU in Ghana explore
the history of West Africa and take half of their course work at one of two local universities. NYU
in London offers all the excitement of a modern metropolis to students in a variety of majors. NYU
in Madrid gives students of intermediate to advanced Spanish language proficiency the opportunity
to gain a deeper understanding of Spanish and Latin American cultures. NYU in Paris offers students
an intensive language program in which they can improve their speaking skills while focusing on
French culture. Students at NYU in Prague choose from four different language options. At NYU in
Shanghai, the curriculum focuses on East Asian studies, as well as on arts and science, education,
and business.
NYU seeks to make study abroad accessible for every student in any major. This allows
students to continue earning credits toward their major or minor while participating in a
transformative experience. In nearly every field of study, you will find courses taught by NYU’s
exemplary faculty that challenge and inform, question and reveal, and always meet NYU’s rigorous
academic requirements. All of NYU’s study abroad programs offer a full range of activities,
seminars, and excursions designed to give you broad cultural exposure.
