Continuing Education: Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting

This course builds upon level I. Students continue to master pronunciation, to expand their vocabulary and structure and to engage in simple conversations. They continue the mastery of Chinese writing. Instructors introduce ten new characters in every session: by the end of level II students have mastered 240 characters. The course emphasizes all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing.) The course is conducted in the target language as much as possible. Both traditional and simplified characters are taught. The textbook employed in this program is Integrated Chinese Level I Part I--Traditional Characters (3rd Edition, Cheng and Tsui, 2009).
