Continuing Education:
Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting
This course builds upon level II. Students continue to expand their vocabulary and structure. They expand the range of their topics of conversation. They continue the mastery of Chinese writing. Instructors introduce ten new characters in every session: by the end of level III students have mastered 360 characters. The course emphasizes all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing.) The course is conducted in the target language. Notes on Chinese culture and business protocol are included. Both traditional and simplified characters are taught. The textbook employed in this program is
Integrated Chinese Level I Part II--Traditional Characters (3rd Edition, Cheng and Tsui, 2009).
Counts as one course toward the certificate.
