The use of social media platforms continues to grow worldwide. According to Facebook's statistics, they have more than 800 million active users; Twitter has 106 million. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the medium and learn how to engage in authentic conversations with consumers who are active in social media. This intensive program takes a holistic view of social media marketing--one in which participants examine the best practices of brands that are capitalizing on this digital trend, how social media works, how to use the medium to achieve objectives, and how to focus on a strategy that works and contributes favorably to the bottom line. Guest speakers demonstrate how to exchange ideas through outlets that feel organic and personal and help marketers develop an effective social media marketing plan that looks to the future.

  • Determining if using social media is the right choice for your company
  • Developing and evaluating social media marketing strategies and plans to execute a program as part of your overall digital and IMC plans

  • Examining the value of using a micro-blogging platform, such as Twitter to engage a community of customers
  • The use of blogs, links, pictures, and video to enhance your content

  • Exposure to social media analytical tools such as Radian 6, Neilsen/Buzz Metrics, Scout Labs, and Viral Heat.
  • A review of the most popular growing platforms and technology in the space today.
  • Evaluating a plan's return on investment .

    PROGRAM NOTES

    Students are required to write and present a Social Media Marketing program as part of a team project to receive a passing grade. Students receive a certificate of completion. Tuition includes complimentary continental breakfast daily and all course materials. A separate activity fee of $100 must be paid by separate check or money order payable to New York University on the first day of the program. Students are strongly encouraged to be available weekday evenings (6-9 p.m.) to work on team projects.
