Philanthropy and Fundraising
In the United States, virtually everyone is asked to be charitable, but not everyone knows how to be philanthropic. Whether you work for a grantmaking foundation or are involved in philanthropy, this course provides an introduction to the field of American philanthropy, the role of the funder, current best practices and ethical standards, an understanding of the relationship to not-for-profit organizations, and the nature of grantmaking. Utilizing both didactic and case study methods, this interactive class provides the basis for subsequent courses in the Grantmaking concentration track.
