This is an interdisciplinary course that focuses on content relevant to many healthcare majors. It includes such topics as changes in the healthcare delivery system; concepts of health and illness; ergonomics medical terminology; interpersonal communication; patient assessment; critical thinking as it relates to patient care; infection control, overview of legal issues in healthcare and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The course is offered in modules, some of which include specific laboratory sessions.
