SPRING 2012
Continuing Education:
Management and Information Technology
Gain an in-depth understanding of the most recent version of HTML/XHTML language in this course, designed for professionals with at least one year of hands-on experience in Web development. HTML5 is rapidly becoming an important technology for multimedia interactivity on modern Web sites. HTML5 solves issues found in previous iterations, and addresses the needs of Web applications in areas previously not adequately covered. Browsers such as Safari, Mozilla, Opera, and Chrome already support many of its features--and browsers for smart phones are even farther ahead. Some of them are replacements for common uses of generic block (<div>) and inline (<span>) elements. Other elements provide new functionality through a standardized interface, such as the <audio> and <video> elements. HTML5 aims to reduce the need for proprietary plug-in-based rich internet application (RIA) technologies.
