An annual gift is one that is expected from the same donor every year. The annual appeal is the fundraising program specifically designed to generate, sustain, and upgrade that gift. This course explores the components of a successful annual appeal and is geared towards development professionals from small to mid-size nonprofits who are considering starting a comprehensive annual appeal or bolstering their current annual appeal. Topics include budgeting, planning, and timing your appeal; writing a compelling letter; the components of a direct mail piece; segmenting and targeting prospects; the role of the board; stewardship; and measuring success.
