Public Relations Writing Seminar I

PRCC1-GC1020
Credit: Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations

Emphasis is placed on developing messages to achieve specific objectives with specific audiences, in line with organizational values and objectives. Frequent writing assignments and critical evaluations will give students a knowledge of the various tools of the profession and where and when they are best applied - for example, news releases, 'pitch letters,' press advisories and other standard press materials, as well as newsletters, video and internet communications. During the semester, while students are working to produce a full press kit, each step of the writing process will be examined - research, planning (outlining), writing and rewriting.
