Understanding how organizations function is essential for any publishing manager. In this course, students explore the inner workings of corporations and the role of the manager and leader within this context. They also examine how corporations adapt roles and responsibilities as traditional media merges into digital media. In addition, students gain an understanding of the fundamentals of management theory and develop essential management skills: self-awareness, communication, motivation, leadership, and conflict management. The course discusses the various theories and styles of management and supervision employed in the publication of books, periodicals, and in digital media.
