Continuing Education:
Writing and Speech
Writing a novel is like building a house: you need a blueprint before you begin. Careful planning at the start of the process greatly reduces cutting and revising later. By providing structure, planning also makes genuine improvisation possible. This course offers students a variety of approaches including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel to outline a story, create character bios, construct a timeline, and organize research. Writers with the germ of an idea, as well as those who feel stranded in the middle of a novel-in-progress, are encouraged to participate.
