Learn the history and technology of Portland cement concrete and its precursors, and examine architectural and engineering uses, inspection techniques, causes of deterioration, and current repair methods. Both cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete are reviewed. The course is presented through several case studies, including examples of repairs required to comply with New York City Local Law #11/98, as well as historic concrete structures such as Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum.
