Creating Sensational Venues: Design and Decor

TCCE1-CE9541 / $825
SPRING 2012
Continuing Education: Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management

Every venue, whether plain or elaborate, provides a physical canvas on which to create an event. Depending on the goal of the event, its theme, and its budget, you can creatively complement the existing venue with any number of decorative items. Learn to manage set designers, technical crews, and prop resources to create a sensational venue. This course emphasizes creativity as students learn how to turn raw space into something extraordinary. Prior to the first class, students must read The Art of the Event by James Monroe (John Wiley & Sons, 2005) and What Color is Your Event? The Art of Bringing People Together by Dianne Budion Devitt (2010).
