Consumer Behavior

Credit: Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management

An examination of consumer behavior as it applies to sports. In this course, the topics to be examined include: analysis of types of customers including individual, organizational, buyer process, decision-making behaviors, market-specific influences, fan avidity, psychology of decision making; psychographics, segmentation, lifestyle spending, reference groups, influences and determinants.

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, each student should be able to:
  1. Analyze fan behavior.

  2. Analyze demographic factors that explain buyer behavior.

  3. Research patterns of consumer behavior in sports.

  4. Identify and utilize methods and resources (media and otherwise) available for consumer research and analysis in the sports business.

Prerequisites:
None
