TRAN1-CE9885 / $695
SPRING 2012
Continuing Education: Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting

The aim of this non language-specific course is to help translators build and improve their understanding of fundamental financial concepts. We will work through introducing key areas of finance (financial statements and disclosures, financial securities, and financial markets and regulations) in an effort to build a core vocabulary of about 300 terms, which we can then apply to interpreting company financial disclosures (SEC filings) and basic financial documentation (credit agreements and ISDA agreements). No previous knowledge of finance is required.

Counts as an elective course. Required text "The Basics of Finance: An Introduction to Financial Markets, Business Finance and Portfolio Management" by Frank Fabozzi and Pamela Drake ($40-$50 on Amazon).
