Humanities and Performing Arts
Actors in "the zone" find themselves in a special place where performance is exceptional and flowing. This state can be reached through the fusion of scene study and improvisation. Once the author's words and actions are crystallized in an actor's mind, they can be personalized through improvisations. Then the performer can return to the script with a stronger personal connection. In this course we integrate scene study and improvisations--and add the camera as a tool. A film expert records performances, providing a mirror for students and capturing subtleties in characterization so that they can analyze their work and consider new choices.
Each student receives a DVD of their final performance.
