Arts administration professionals must increasingly address a range of concerns that extend beyond the immediate management of their organization to the broader social, legal, and political context of their communities. In this course, you learn about moral, ethical, legal, and political issues that all arts administrators in leadership positions confront. Topics covered include the political landscape as it can affect local arts policy; property rights (copyright, trademark, and patent); sponsorship and government subsidies; policies on censorship in the arts; and policies on forgery and plagiarism.
