Arts Programs
Photography, one of the preeminent means of visual communication and a major art form since its invention in 1839, is entwined with all aspects of modern life, from high art to popular culture. In this course, examine photographers whose work defines the form, including masters of photography Julia Margaret Cameron, Alfred Stieglitz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Walker Evans, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Cindy Sherman. At least one session meets at a major museum for a tour and talk with a special guest.
10-session Appraisal Studies elective. Tuition does not include museum fees.
