Arts Programs
Survey painting, sculpture, architecture, and prints--and build a foundation in art history. Topics include prehistoric art; Egyptian art; archaic, classical, and Hellenistic art; Roman art and architecture; early Christian, Jewish, and Islamic art; Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic art; the early and High Renaissance in Italy and northern Europe; baroque art of the 17th century; Dutch masters; neoclassical art of the 18th century; romanticism, realism, and impressionism of the 19th century; postimpressionism; and 20th-century styles of fauvism, cubism, futurism, surrealism, and social realism. A visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is planned.
Tuition includes museum fees.Non-evaluative course; grades not issued.
