Among its foreign policy priorities, the Obama administration is addressing the decline of the U.S. image abroad over the course of the last decade. Review the history, concepts, and practice of U.S. public diplomacy; examine ideas of how opinions are formed; and explore the impact of global new media. This information provides a context to consider how the U.S. can rebuild a global foundation of trust. Students conduct regular reviews of public diplomacy in current events and develop strategies for new approaches. The course uses multidisciplinary sources and includes guest speakers.
