FALL 2009
Continuing Education:
Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting
This workshop is for those wishing to strengthen their spoken French, their command of French grammar and vocabulary, the quality of their pronunciation, and their understanding of French culture. Through weekly readings of topical interest, students tackle a variety of challenging subjects: political, social, and cultural. Over the course of the semester, each student gives two brief presentations on a subject of personal choice; and classmates respond with questions or challenge the speaker's ideas. This lively experience raises the level of students' spoken French to the point of being capable of expressing complex ideas in the language. The course is conducted entirely in French.
Counts as one course toward the certificate.
Required textbooks are listed according to course number and are available at Shakespeare and Co., 716 Broadway at Washington Place.
