SPRING 2010
Continuing Education: Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting

This course explores the works of many overlooked, prize-winning French-speaking writers from Africa, Maghreb, Quebec, and the Caribbean, and analyzes the impact of the Littérature-Monde on the French literary world. By examining the style and content of the literary works introduced in this course, students become familiar with both the culture and the politics of many French-speaking countries and acquire a better understanding of European history. Class discussions focus on identity, exile, tradition and modernity, and rural versus urban culture. Enhance your reading skills and discuss current issues. Course content changes every semester.
