Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting
This craft-oriented course gives both experienced and inexperienced translators the opportunity to get acquainted with and solve the problems that translators encounter. While working on literary and other articles, you become aware of the subtleties of the French language and the difficulties of transposing from English to French. Translating into French helps to increase your vocabulary, polish your grammar, improve your oral and written proficiency, and heighten your sensibility to the English language. Course content changes every semester.
This course does not apply to the Certificate in Translation.
Counts toward the certificate in Foreign Languages (French). Required textbooks are listed according to course number and are available at Shakespeare and Co., 716 Broadway at Washington Place.
