This course is suitable for people who have completed Arabic II through this department or who have taken one semester of college Arabic at another institution. The course format combines 51 hours of classroom instruction with six hours of guided field trips. Students expand their vocabulary, enrich their grammatical resources, and develop their conversation skills. Through visits to Arabic-speaking neighborhoods in New York City, you practice the language and experience the culture. The material covered in this course may not correspond entirely to the material covered in standard Arabic IV. After completing this course, you should speak to an education advisor about the next appropriate level.
Prerequisites:
The textbook used in this course is Al-Kitaab: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic: Part One (2nd Edition, Georgetown University Press, 2004).
Counts as two courses toward the certificate. Days and times of field trips may vary.
