Continuing Education:
Writing and Speech
Say what you mean with fluency, precision, and eloquence--and build your word power capabilities. Explore vocabulary building from every angle as you trace words back to their Greek and Latin roots to decipher their original meaning, as opposed to what they mean now. Base your language choices on understanding words by examining their use in the context of an entire sentence and paragraph. Learn the difference between literal and figurative speech, and a word's denotation and connotation. Put newly acquired word power skills into practice by means of in-class conversation and at-home writing assignments.
