Continuing Education:
Writing and Speech
Can you write an absolutely clear and compelling sentence, paragraph, or narrative? This course creates the environment in which you can try. We explore the interplay between how meditation promotes clarity and how that clarity might be transposed to the page in the form of a 10-page piece, fiction or nonfiction, that unfolds over the life of these ten sessions. Utilizing guided meditation, writing that extends out of that meditation, and additional writing tools and exercises, students are guided to access and clarify the "story" they wish to tell. The course is built around writer/editor William Zinsser's premise that "clear thinking produces clear writing."
Students must have a solid foundation in grammar and writing mechanics.
