Writing and Speech
This class is for people with a novel in their heads and for those who want to mold a series of short stories into longer fiction pieces. Receive help getting started and getting structured. Writing exercises include establishing tone, exploring character, making dialogue tighter and deeper, and using interior monologue. Other issues include sustaining interest--both as a writer and a reader; the value of an agent; and excerpting from a long work for publication in small magazines. The course is appropriate for students who have done some writing or for those who have taken an introductory writing course.
