SPRING 2010
Continuing Education:
Writing and Speech
If you're a screenwriter, or simply love film and want to understand how the written word translates to the motion picture screen, this class provides essential insight into the "understructure" of film. Each week, you examine the screenplay of a movie that is screened in the upcoming class. Lively discussion sessions follow the screening, and touch on various craft elements including characterization, plot, dialogue, theme, scene writing, conflict, adaptation, action, and comedy. Additional readings, interviews with screenwriters, critiques, and other related materials support class discussion. Writing exercises help you assimilate each week's lesson.
