FALL 2009
Continuing Education:
Writing and Speech
Do you love reading and writing about food and drink as much as you love consuming them? Do you long to write food memoirs or blogs, chef profiles, restaurant reviews, or cookbooks? Starting with the basics of all cultural reporting and writing--like how to observe closely and describe evocatively, we go on to cover the essentials of each food writing format, engage in regular in-class and at-home writing exercises, and workshop one another's written work. Examples of the best food writing are explored, and submission conventions and strategies are discussed. The goal is to begin compiling a food-writing portfolio.
