Film, Video and Broadcasting
In an intensive one-day session, this course explores how distribution strategies have changed over the past two decades; how distributors get films into theatres, and the advantages and disadvantages of self-distribution, cable, home video, and ancillary rights; how majors institute national campaigns; differences between national circuits and local independents; specialized marketing campaigns for independent and foreign films; how theaters decide which films to play; and the interdependent relationship of production, marketing, distribution, and exhibition.
