As Apple's leading editing software package, Final Cut Pro is a cost-effective yet professional desktop editing system for budget-conscious filmmakers. As such, it has rapidly become a must-have application for indie filmmakers and documentarians. Using DV footage and Final Cut Pro, students work in pairs to learn all the basics of digital nonlinear editing, working from footage provided by NYU. Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, focus on the skills of editing, including continuity, pacing, and dramatic structure.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of Mac OS required. Those unfamiliar with Mac Operating System should take Mac OS and Color Systems/X36.9223
