Continuing Education:
Film, Video and Broadcasting
This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of how to manage the post-production work flow of documentary filmmaking, as well as the basic business practices associated with archival and fair use material. It provides an overview of the process, technology, and professional division of labor in documentary and television post-production. Lectures, screenings, and in-class assignments with documentary footage provided by NYU introduce you to the work-flow and creativity required to oversee the post-production process. We cover edit room management, strategies for editing a documentary story from many hours of footage, researching and utilizing archival materials (from professional archives and alternative free sources), all the way to on-lining the project and creating the final deliverables necessary for broadcast.
