Advanced Topics in Grantmaking Strategies

X39.9023 / Continuing Education / $0
FALL 2008

Partnerships among funders and non-profit organizations can enhance the quality of projects by combining resources and knowledge to amplify project impact. Such collaborations must be organized with care. Collaborators have their own cultures, perspectives, and goals, which must be respected. When they do find common purpose and manage to overcome organizational personalities, their impact can be substantially enhanced. This two-session seminar explores the advantages and pitfalls of organizing and managing collaborations. Examples are illustrated through the case-study of a long-term collaboration among four foundations that are supporting several universities in sub-Saharan Africa.
