FALL 2008
While the overwhelming majority of fundraisers are honest, any hint of subterfuge or abuse taints the profession and chills donor generosity. This course is required of all students working toward a Certificate in Fundraising and examines the legal issues, laws and regulations, and the importance of ethics in fundraising. The course addresses the responsibility of institutions to protect donors' interests and respect the intent of their gifts, and to be accountable to donors and the public. It also examines the responsibility of boards of trustees in upholding and adhering to prescribed ethical standards in fundraising, including criteria for accepting or rejecting contributions.
