Individual giving accounts for most charitable gifts in the United States, a trend that is responsible for the proliferation of major gift programs around the country. This course is designed for executive directors, board members, volunteers, development directors, and others who want to learn or sharpen their skills in major gift fundraising. Students learn to distinguish between the art and the science in this approach. The course covers topics such as identifying and cultivating donors, preparing for and making "the ask", ethics in fundraising, and how to set and meet fundraising goals. Classes are tailored to meet the individual needs of the participants.
