FALL 2009
Continuing Education:
Career, Education, and Life Planning
The business of professional childcare, such as family day care, requires you to be a small-business entrepreneur. There are rewards as well as problems in running your own financially successful business. The advantage of being independent is the ability to do things your way, while following legal guidelines and meeting professional standards. This course helps you prepare a business plan, write contracts with parents, learn how to keep necessary records, and use forms. You explore methods of marketing your business, and discuss tax preparation and insurance. Students develop their own business plans and contracts in class.
