Companies that take a proactive approach to crisis management can act immediately and reduce negative impact in the event of an unforeseen crisis. Learn how to recognize red flags, create and manage a crisis team and strategy, prepare tools of communication during a crisis, train spokespersons, and identify opportunities to communicate messages properly and to the correct media. Examine how crises differ from organization to organization and learn strategies for keeping the crisis plan current and the crisis team involved. Students have the opportunity to practice their skills in one-on-one interviews, a mock press conference, and television and radio interviews.
Students must have a good working knowledge of the basics of public relations and be in an active decision-making position within an organization.
